This summer UH LIS Assistant Professor Noriko Asato had a busy "CJK" summer. She started the summer out as a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Education. She is working with Professor Kawasaki Yoshitaka on the history of Intellectual Freedom in the United States. She also met with a team of LIS scholars from other parts of Japan.
She later partook in a University of Rhode Island Study Tour of the People's Republic of China with Dr. Yan Ma. She visited Peking University and Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, in addition to exploring many libraries and historic sites. She also gave a brief talk on a panel at the Shanghai International Library Forum.
This fall Dr. Asato spent two weeks on a Korea Society Korea Fall 2010 Fellowship. She visited several historical sites, and the library at the Academy of Korean Studies, and the Cheongju Early Printing Museum.
