LIS Exchange with the University of Tsukuba

In March 2010 Professor Donkai and three students from the University of Tsukuba came to the UH LIS Program as the first part of a developing exchange program between the UH LIS Program and the University of Tsukuba.

Library Hopping

In May 2010 UH LIS Professor Asato and Wertheimer went to the University of Tsukuba for a one week study visit. We visited the National Diet Library, National Archives of Japan, ICU, Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library. Rachel and Erika later experienced libraries at the University of Tsukuba.

At the National Diet Library

Tsukuba is the home of many leading LIS scholars as it is in Japan's "Science city" and also was home to the former (National University of Library and Information Science). We look forward to continuing this exchange.

Welcoming Night

The University of Hawaii at Manoa already has exchange agreements with several prestigious universities in Japan with respected LIS Programs, such as Keio University and the University of Kyoto. Please talk with Dr. Asato if you are interested in exploring this option.
